Digi Pak Ideas..
Deciding on what to plump for as our primary cover was preety tense. getting everyone to agree on a final product is hard.
as a group we want to have the CD pak looking attractive but at the same time, we need to bear in mind; what ever goes into the cover needs to relate to the whole production (music video). because the song is quite sentimental having colour might not be such a good idea. so every time we come up with ideas it just does not match the actual song.
at the moment we're finalising our conception. we have all come up with an agreement of having the couple from the music video to feature as the principle image for the digipak. we are also going to include elements of water, this is because water was the principle aspect in our music video.
we've drawn many images of how the digipak could possibly look like. because in the music video Masuma is dead, we want zakwan to stand out more. so maybe have masuma in the front cover but in shallow focus, with zakwan as the main facet.
on the inside panel we are going to have the lyrics from 'Chasing cars', and maybe feature some water, as the base, this will link the whole concept to the music vid.
one of my ideas was to have a bunch of dead flowers, on the front cover with both the character face fading out.
any ways we've taken some photos of the couple, and tomorrow we're going to make a start with the digipak, we've got our drawings to guide us through the process...

This is one of Snow patrol CD Cover.
The 2 CD's that we've seen so far, does not meet our expectations. The snow patrol use very subtle colours. However we want to go for something more captivating. The music video we have produced consists of subtle colours, it lacks bright colours because it has a sad story line.

This is another one of Snow patrol's Albums. As you can see both of the front covers feature a man and women together. The name of this album is 'Final Straw',immediately we can see how the image relates to the name of the cover. There is an image of a man and women walking and around them we can see 'straw' and the sun setting behind them. The colour used on this cover is also the colour of straw and contrasts with the colour of the sun. The sun setting relates to the word 'final' and the image of the straw around the couple relates to the word 'straw'.

We have finally completed our music video. we have made a modification to our initial idea, but have kept the concept of the vid. whilst editing as a group we realised that either some of the clips did not go together, or didn't make much sense. we needed to work towards something that the whole group approved, not just something that satisfied only one individual. we was not aware of the changes we would have to make, it just sort of happened through the editing process.
in the end we did not follow 100% of the story board. our ideas expanded throughout the whole course, which meant we'd had to make alteration to the original idea...

Editing
On the last day of college Before the *christmas holidays* our group came into college for a couple of hours to do some editing. we knew we wouldn't be able to finish it all at once after the holiday's because of all the january exams we had. we were able to complete half of the song, which was our aim. by the end of this day we felt a sense of success, we could now go home without the dreadful thought of having a baggage full of workload after we had returned.
On the monday back we were told that the deadline for the coursework is coming to an end. as you can imagine we began to panic. Due to recent weather disadvantages we had to drawback our scheduling for editing. we were unable to attend many days last week, it was difficult because the whole school closed early for most of last week, giving us only a few hours to edit. Travelling was another hindrance for students as well as teachers.
We accomplished a sufficient amount of editing last friday (8/1/10), we began during lesson time, and stayed back after school, and even managed to do little bit of filming thanks to Miss Polard's genius idea; which had an imperative impact to our music video. admittedly it transformed our video in a good way.
We were being drowned with negative comments about how our video didn't make much sense by a few people who viewed it, so we had to make a few adjustments. We Filmed some home video clips, as flashbacks for the music video- to show the momentous times the 'couple' had together. this will be edited in black and white to make it clear to our viewers that this is a flashback and also creates an effective effect
The snow therefore had a constructive advantage to our group- we were very lucky, to have white snow in our setting.'' and oh yeh, ThankYou Imran for letting us use your car, our group really appreciates it!'' the home video clip consists of the two 'couples' playing with each other in the snow.
when we got back to the classroom to upload these footage's , Masuma realised that we filmed the whole clip upside down, this was not fixable, even the 'Apple Mac' Genius could not solve this predicament. so we had to go out again and reshoot the whole thing.
Whilst Razia was editing in the classroom she was having numerous problems with the laptop. The application she was using kept shutting down unexpectedly. at one point the remembrance of saving the file slipped out of her mind and the application annoyingly shut down. all the hard effort she put into this work went out of the window.
as a group we decided to leave things as they were, as there wasn't a substantial amount to do, so we left it until monday(11/1/10). we wasn't able to edit on monday due to extension class's after school, so we left it for the next day. we began editing during lesson in the morning and came back at 2.00pm whilst we had study leave. we spent an hour and a half victoriously completing the whole music video with only the transitions left to add in.
we watched through the whole video extract with the rest of the class, and received positive criticism from the other groups. although some made some pessimistic comments... but that was only out of jealousy :)...
tomorrow we are going to come after school and fully complete the music video, and hopefully without any interference, hand in our master piece to MISS POLARD!!!!
